In the spring of 1868, a group of forward-thinking men from the Pierceton area assembled with the goal of forming an organization of community-minded individuals that would lead to the formation of a masonic lodge in Pierceton.  Those meetings led to the official issue of a charter by the Grand Lodge of Masons of Indiana, signed in May of 1868, officially creating Pierceton Lodge #377   Free and Accepted Masons of Indiana.  That signing formed an organization of men aspiring to become ever better men with a bond based in brotherly love and a belief in the supreme creator.  It is the same fraternal organization that exists today.  Freemasonry is the world’s oldest, largest, and best-known men’s fraternity.  Pierceton Lodge #377 was formed as a fraternal organization that unites men of good character, of different religious, ethnic, and social backgrounds, who share a belief in a Supreme Being and in the brotherhood of mankind.  Freemasons help one another and their communities in good times and in hardship.  Its system of ethics is based on the belief that each man has a responsibility to improve himself, while being devoted to his family, faith, country, and fraternity.  Freemasonry strives to make good men better.
